  • 220 British pounds
  • Ashdown Crescent

In this course, we will explore the foundations of hand building with clay and throwing on the pottery wheel. This will give you a good insight into the world of pottery and help you to create your very first ceramics! We will go through the three main techniques for hand building in the first week: pinching, coiling and slab building. In the second week, we cover all the basics of throwing on the wheel: preparing the clay, centering, opening and pulling walls to create simple shapes. The classes will be split between hand building and throwing for the second and third week. After a two weeks break, we will meet again to decorate and glaze your work. There will be max. 4 people per course which allows us to give you plenty of attention and pointers along the way. Sessions run on Thursdays, 7pm - 9pm. There's a week break between the third and the fourth class to allow enough time for firing. Dates: 2nd Feb, 9th Feb, 16th Feb and 2nd March *Please note: all sessions include a 15 minute cleaning up before the class finishes. WHAT TO BRING We have aprons for you but as working with clay can get messy, it's best to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Ideally cut your nails short and tie your hair up, it'll make working with clay much easier. MATERIALS AND TOOLS All clay and tools needed for the course will be provided. All of our students have access to a full range of tools, slips and glazes. TERMS OF CANCELLATION Our classes are non refundable. No fill in classes are offered, please ensure you attend all your booked sessions.
